Finals

Two great Semi-Final results on Sunday see both Williamstown Seagulls FIDA teams progress to their respective Grand Finals on Sunday August 26.
First up, at 10.00 in some very fierce, wet and cold weather, the Division 4 (Reserves) team led all day and withstood a fast-finishing Mt Waverley team to record a victory, 3.11 (29) to 3.4 (22). The Seagulls showed that the efforts they have put in to developing their skills, fitness and team work have paid off handsomely. They players were so excited when the final siren sounded, and they celebrated their 7-point win with a rousing rendition of the club song. It was great to have so many supporters barracking hard for the team.
The Reserves team plays against top team Rupertswood at 10.00am next Sunday at Lower Plenty (Montmorency Park), Para Rd, Montmorency. Although starting underdogs, this team has learnt that anything is possible with their never-say-die attitude.
In the second game of the morning, the Division 1 side was too strong for a re-building, but well-respected Kananook team which battled hard all day. Final scores were 97 to 13, a 14-goal win which was remarkable for its accuracy in trying conditions. This Seagulls team has been undefeated all year. We go into the Grand Final against Mt Waverley as favourites, but know that the past counts for nothing – it’s how we play on the day. This Grand Final is also at Lower Plenty (Montmorency Park), Para Rd, Montmorency, at 3.00pm.
