Grand Finals

23 Aug 2018 by Rob Klemm

Our final training session ahead of our two FIDA League Grand Final appearances was full of enthusiasm, excitement and enjoyment. While a number of players have played in victorious teams in the past, others have not. For another group of players, this will be their first ever experience.
Rising Collingwood star Brodie Mihocek attended our training at the invitation of Andrew Tserkesidis – who he knows from his Port Melbourne VFL days. Brodie generously stayed to observe the whole session, speaking to all the players about his football experiences, and encouraging them to make the most of their opportunities on Sunday. We are very appreciative of his contribution.
Meanwhile, Shazza and her team are busy preparing the run-through banners for the two Williamstown matches, and a sneak preview indicates they are going to be the new benchmark for pre-game festivities. Thanks also to Kate and Julie for organising the pies and drinks for after training.
The bus will be leaving Footscray Station at 8.30, and will return after the Division 1 match has concluded.
The Reserves (Division 4) team plays against top side Rupertswood at 10.00am on Sunday August 26 at Lower Plenty (Montmorency Park), Para Rd, Montmorency (Melways 21 A6) at 10.00. Plyers to arrive by 9:30am.
The Senior (Division 1) Grand Final is against Mt Waverley, also at Lower Plenty (Montmorency Park), Para Rd, Montmorency (Melways 21 A6), at 3.00pm. Players to arrive by 2.30pm.
Post-game reflections (win, lose or draw) will be held in a private function room from 6.30pm until 11.00pm (at the latest), at our major sponsor, Pekish, now located at Kooringal Golf Club, Wilga Ave, Altona (Melways 54 C12). Meals can be ordered from the Kitchen until 8.30pm, and the bar is open until 11.00pm. Under 18s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and we remind everyone to drink responsibly, especially if driving.
Integrity. Loyalty. Respect.
