Round 1 Results
Div 4
Williamstown 8 .12 (60) defeated Mazenod 4.4 (28)
This was a close game all day, until the Seagulls slammed on 5 goals to 2 in the last quarter to finish too strongly for the Panthers. Apart from an injury to Tai Percival, it was a great hitout for all the Div 4 term, with plenty of players getting their hand on the ball, hitting targets, and scoring goals as well. With an extended bench, we were able to run rotations and ensure everyone got a well-deserved rest. It was also the first opportunity for our new Assistant Coach, Rosamond School staff member Lainie Crofts, to see the Seagulls in
action. I’m sure she was impressed.

Round 2 sees us up against another reserves team, the Lower Plenty Bears, in what will be a very even encounter.
Div 1.
Mt Waverley 7.3 (45) defeated Williamstown 6.7 (43).
The Division 1 Grand Final replay didn’t go our way last weekend against Mt Waverley at Jordan Reserve. With 8 players from our starting line-up unavailable for various reasons, we still were able to put a very competent and competitive team on the park. However, inaccuracy in front of goals, combined with a lineup that is still getting to know each other, saw us fall just 2 points short. Debutants Liam Cooney and Zac Ireland proved they are capable and comfortable at this level of football, while returning mid-fielder Jye Deane showed he has lost nothing after a couple of years away from the club.
The newly-promoted Parkside were heavily defeated by Kananook last week, and will be keen to respond, so Round 2 looks like being a tough assignment, even at The Fearon.
