Today is the start of the Chinese New Year, and there will be fireworks, Lion Dances and other celebrations in many parts of Melbourne, and also in Bendigo, where Phillip Truong is visiting this weekend.
In the Chinese calendar, each year has an animal zodiac sign, which come around every 12 years. This year is the Year of the Snake.
