Round 3 Reports

26 May by Rob Klemm

Match reports for FIDA Round 3, Sunday May 25, 2025
Williamstown “A Grade” Vs Fountain Gate at Max Pawsey Reserve.
Gators 8.6 (54) defeated Seagulls 6.10 (46). Fountain Gate’s 8 point win was built on the back of a blistering first quarter where they piled on 4 goals in the first term. Willy’s inaccurate kicking didn’t help their cause, blowing out to 2.9 (21) at three quarter time. Finally getting their act together, the visitors kicked 4.1 (25) in the final term, but it wasn’t enough. Fountain Gate showed that with a mix of old hands and young guns, they are a competitive unit, well-suited to A Grade.

No photos from the game, unfortunately, but some nice photos of Rob and Shazza’s between-game hangout, while the Bendigo Bank bus headed back to Footscray.
We then re-grouped for the afternoon trip over to Albert Park for a match up with our great friends at Ajax.
Williamstown “C Grade” vs AJAX at Gary Smorgon Oval.
Seagulls 9.7 (61) defeated Jackers 7.3 (45).
Under lights for the very first time, the Seagulls and the Jackers put on the showcase game of the year. We have found a great formula to ensuring we develop some real engagement between the two teams, with players swapping jumpers and playing together. Seven Willy players had the privilege of wearing the famous AJAX jumper – Daryl loved it so much, he played the whole game in it, and wants a clearance! (NO!)
AJAX generously hosted a BBQ and medal presentation after the game. The Josh Ferenbach Memorial medals for Williamstown were won by Shaun and Amy. Josh was an ardent Carlton Football Club supporter, and his adoration for footy was taken to the next level when he took up the role of assistant coach and goal umpire for AJAX. He was 32.
